Named a Northwest top green project in 2009 by the American Institute of Architects (AIA),
Built using recycled and sustainable materials.
Radiant floor heating, solar panels, photovoltaic panels for electricity, recycled metal siding, natural lighting and passive ventilation.
Built on the site of an earlier residence, the building makes use of the prior concrete foundation and repurposed materials.
"The Barn", as locally referred, is a learning center complete with natural lighting and energy efficiency.
The AIA’s "What Makes It Green?" competition is open to designers and architects from Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Alaska, Montana, Hawaii, Guam, Hong Kong and Japan.
